Folds and unfolds very easily, and is held open with with a sliding lock. No screws to tighten or loosen means quick easy folding and unfolding. Folded length is 16 1/2". Don't let the small footprint (great for crowded orchestra pits) fool you, this is a very stable and sturdy stand.
