F. Lorée Oboes, D'amores, English Horns, & Baritone Oboes
All F. Lorée oboes have a full conservatory key system, with all cork pads. All metal parts are heavily silver plated, the body is made of grenadilla (dalbergia melanoxylon). Violetwood (dalbergia caerensis) is an option, as is a synthetic top joint. F. Lorée oboes come with our full pre-sale service, case, case cover, reed case, and all factory included accessories.
F. Lorée oboes are available with two different bores: standard, and AK
Standard bore: Until the 1980s Lorée made only one bore model, the standard is what they were making at that time. Of course they have made modifications and improvements since.
AK Bore: Many people remember the oboes Lorée made in the late 1930s as some of their finest. In the late 1980s Lorée began making their AK bore to emulate those oboes. It is called the AK bore because the serial numbers of those oboes began with "AK".
Liner: All oboe models are available with a lined top joint. The liner has minimal, if any, affect on the sound
and greatly reduces the chance of cracking.
Model c+3 with 3rd octave key
The oboe of choice among professionals since the early 1900s, it is available with standard bore, AK bore, and DM bore.
Model Royal with 3rd octave key
Introduced in 1989, the royal body has thicker walls for a more powerful sound. It also features an adjustable thumb rest, nickel silver tenon rings (helps prevent loose joints), and an adjusting screw to regulate the height of the top joint C key. It is available in two different bore styles: the standard bore, and the AK bore reproduction.
F. Lorée Oboe d'amore Model l+3
The oboe d'amore is in the key of A, a minor third below the oboe. Comes with our full pre-sale service, 2 silver plated bocals, case, case cover, reed case, and all factory included accessories.
F. Lorée English Horn Model i+3
The English horn, or cor Anglais, is in the key of F, a major fifth below the oboe. Comes with our full pre-sale service, 2 silver plated bocals, combination case (holds oboe & English horn), case cover, reed case, and all factory included accessories.
F. Lorée Bass Oboe Model n
(Available by special order only) This bass (or baritone) oboe is in the key of C, one octave below the oboe. It can be used interchangeably with the Heckelphone, although the sound is more refined. If you don't need a bass oboe very often, you might consider renting one from Forrests. It's a whole lot cheaper! Comes with our full pre-sale service, 2 silver plated bocals, case, case cover, reed case, and all factory included accessories.
F. Lorée instrument can be special ordered with two top joints, one wood and one plastic. There is a special case available for an oboe with two top joints.
