Rental vs.
Purchase:
Renting an instrument from Forrests offers the
convenient use of a well maintained instrument with
a minimal rental time commitment and a relatively small
initial outlay of money. However, if you expect to use
an instrument for a prolonged period of time, an outright
purchase will probably cost considerably less than renting
or leasing.
Cash purchase offers the advantage of a substantially discounted cash price, which must be paid in full. The entire cash outlay applies towards the purchase price. However, the purchaser assumes responsibility for maintenance and repair costs, and should the student stop playing, a new home will need to be found for the owned instrument
Our Recommendation:
If the player has already completed a first year
of study and enjoyed playing the chosen instrument,
we recommend that you do not rent again, but acquire
an instrument through an outright cash purchase. If
paying for the instrument strains your budget, consider
other means of financing a purchase such as a bank or
credit union loan, or charging your instrument purchase
to a credit card. This will result in significant overall
savings; the exact amount of savings will vary with
available interest rates and credit card costs.
Month to Month
Rental
There is a three month minimum rental. An amount
equal to three month's rent
(1st month's rent, last month's rent, plus
1 month's rent as security deposit) must be paid at
the beginning of the rental. Monthly rental payments
begin after the 1stmonth. A partial month
will be charged as a full month without proration.
Purchase Discount. There is no option to purchase the rented instrument. However, up to 20% additional discount may be earned off the already discounted cash price of a new standard or intermediate Yamahaź instrument from Forrests. The discount increases by 2% for every month's rental paid, up to a maximum of 20%. No rental credit is allowed for oboe or bassoon rent.
Lease and Rental Accounts. Credit must be established for every rent/lease account, even though a customer may have rented from Forrests previously. A credit report will be obtained for all rent/lease customers. Customer must complete a Renter's Questionnaire and provide the following documents:
California Driver's License with photo, or DMV-ID, showing current address.
Credit Card in the same name: Visa, MasterCard or Discover card
Please note, a photo copy will be made of your driver's license and credit card.
Buy Back Plan:
This is the simplest plan of all. Simply purchase
a new, or nearly new, student model instrument at our
discounted cash price and pay for your instrument in
full.
On request Forrests will issue a Buy back Certificate which allows you to sell the instrument back to Forrests for the price paid, less the rental you would have paid during the time you owned the instrument. (Minimum rental periods apply)
Check these advantages:
YOU SAVE $$$
NO CREDIT TO ESTABLISH
NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS
Should the player lose interest, simply return the instrument, cleaned and in good condition, and we will buy it back.
No free maintenance during ownership period. Buy back value reductions may be made if the instrument or case are damaged or defaced. Buy back is not available for double reed instruments.
USED INSTRUMENTS
Forrests has a selection of used instruments
for sale. Please ask about availability. (Rental purchase
credits do not apply to used instruments)
