The quality and performance of a reed do not only depend on the skill of the player or the reed maker, but also on the physical characteristics of the cane, particularly its hardness. Our hardness testers offer the reed maker an objective way to evaluate cane and also to measure the thickness of gouged cane. The analog is metric only, the digital changes from metric to English at the touch of a button.
