Philip Freihofner: Music from "The Golem"

For Oboe 1, oboe 2, English horn and bassoon. A four movement suite using Klezmer stylings, taken from a score written to accompany the German silent horror file "Der Golem: Wie er in de Welt kam" (Paul Wegener, 1920). The film is based on the story of a rabbi of 16th century Prague said to have created a golem, a figure made of clay brought to life via powers of the Kabbalah, to protect the local Jewry.
