Choosing the right bocal or instrument takes time. That's why Forrests offers both in-store consultations and at-home trial periods, giving you the opportunity to compare options in your own practice space, lessons, rehearsals, and performances before making a decision.
In-Store Consultation
Visit our Berkeley shop to explore the selection we have in stock and work with one of our specialists to compare different options.
Once you've narrowed your choices, you may take items home for a one-week trial:
- Up to four bocals
- Up to two instruments
Mail Trials
If you can't visit the shop, we also offer trials by mail.
Our specialists are happy to help you select bocals or instruments to try before shipping.
Mail trials begin on the day your shipment is delivered and last one week.
Customers are responsible for shipping and insurance charges. Please contact us for current rates and availability.
Trial Guidelines
- There is no charge for the trial itself, though we do require a credit card on file.
- Trial periods last one week from the date you receive your bocals or instruments.
- If you need additional time, please contact us. When availability allows, we're happy to extend trial periods whenever possible.
- Bocals and instruments must be returned in their original condition.
- Bocals returned with damaged corks are subject to a $25 recorking fee.
- Customers are responsible for any damage that occurs during an instrument trial.
- Customers are responsible for return shipping and insurance on items that are not purchased.
