Sell Your Instrument Through Forrests
Forrests Music accepts select double reed and woodwind instruments for consignment. To maintain the quality of our used instrument selection, we accept instruments based on the maker, condition, and current market demand. If you're interested in consigning an instrument, here's what you can expect.
Contact Us
Call or email us to discuss your instrument. We'll ask a few questions and let you know whether it's a good candidate for consignment.
Evaluation
If your instrument is eligible, one of our repair technicians will perform a comprehensive evaluation. Consignment evaluations are provided at no charge and typically take 2–4 weeks, depending on shop workload.
Your Consignment Proposal
Once the evaluation is complete, we'll provide a consignment proposal that includes:
- Recommended repairs or maintenance
- An estimated timeline for any recommended work
- An estimated selling price
- The consignment terms, including the applicable commission
Moving Forward
If you decide to consign your instrument, you may either pay for any recommended repairs upfront or have those costs deducted from the sale proceeds for a nominal fee.
If you decide not to proceed, you may pick up your instrument or arrange to have it returned to you at your expense.
