Instructions
for #C-17 Sharpening guide

Mounting the guide
The small adjustment screws are used to adjust the guide's
jaws to the taper of the knife blade.
On most double hollow ground knives the top of the blade
will be held in the groove. Adjust the screws so that
both edges of the groove contact the blade.
Most folding knives will not need the groove, adjust the
screws so that the jaws lie flat on the blade.
After the jaws have been adjusted to the knife, clamp
the blade in place with the clamping screws.
Using the guide
Grind one side of the knife until you can feel a small
burr, then turn the knife over and grind until you can
feel a burr on the other side. You can repeat the process
with a finer stone, if needed. Finish up by using a strop,
and you will have a very sharp knife.
You may need to use a medium grit, or coarser, stone
the first time you use the guide if the blade is in poor
condition.
Always keep the guide in contact with the stone, if you
raise the guide off the stone you will round off the edge
and have to start over.
