Leitzinger Bocals
|
Leitzinger Bassoon Bocal, Silver plated
Leitzinger bocals have gained worldwide acclaim and are played in top orchestras around the world. Based on traditional German sound culture, Stephan Leitzinger created a completely new bocal type which combines modern requirements with traditional sound quality ideals. He succeeded in accomplishing a tone which is equally rich in all registers while providing secure intonation and excellent response quality. With these bocals the musician can play in a relaxed manner, be it pianissimo or fortissimo, while achieving the richest sound volume. The large range of bocal models make it possible to find the perfect type to match every instrument and complement any playing style.
Each bocal is individually soldered, hammered and bent by hand, then plated with either silver, gold, or platinum.
Leitzinger bocal models are defined by 4 factors: Taper E offers more resistance and very warm tone with secure response in the upper registers. N offers less blowing resistance, powerful upper register and richness of overtones. V offers a very open sound, low blowing resistance and a very rich lower register.
Material Every type comes in five different versions: M, ML, MD, S and SL. M is made of thicker, S of thinner metal. L offers excellent response qualities and tone color flexibility and an excellent upper register. MD is a special "Gold" brass alloy, which favors the uppermost register while providing unaltered playing and tone quality in all other registers.
Length Leitzinger bocals are available in the standard lengths of 0, 1, and 2, which are equivalent to Heckel bocal lengths.
Plating Leitzinger bocals are available plated with Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
Leitzinger bocals are distributed in the United States exclusively by Forrests Music. Silver plated bocals available are: e-m-1, e-md-1, e-ml-1, n-m-1, n-m-2, n-md-1, n-md-2, n-ml-1, n-ml-2, n-s-1, n-s-2, n-sl-1, n-sl-2, v-m-1, v-m-2, v-md-1, v-md-2, v-ml-1, v-ml-2, v-sl-1, & v-sl-2.

Electronic Pickups
|
Bassoon Bocal Pickup, With Adapter and Cord
This is the first reasonably priced bassoon pickup assembly available. Suggested by Jarret Rossini, and endorsed by Paul Hanson and Michael Rabinowitz. The kit includes the Telex pickup (125 Ohm), a 5' cable (with 1/4" plug) and the special machined brass adapter (made in Forrests' shop). Installation by a repair technician is required, the adapter must be soft soldered to the bocal, and a small hole drilled in the bocal. There is a small possibility that installing this unit may minutely affect the sound of the bocal, so you may not want to do this to your best bocal. Forrests cannot predict, and is not responsible for, possible changes to your bocal due to the installation of this product.
